Guaranteed Price Set for Animal Feed Corn for 2025/2026 to Protect Farmers

Bangkok: The Ministry of Commerce has announced a guaranteed purchase price for animal feed corn for the year 2025/2026, aimed at supporting farmers and enforcing strict regulations on collectors and factories. Buyers are required to adhere to a set median price, with violators facing significant penalties. The purchase price is established between 7.05 to 9.80 baht per kilogram, contingent on moisture content, and will be effective until July 31, 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, the announcement follows the resolution of the Animal Feed Corn Policy and Management Committee (APCMC) on August 28, 2025, which approved guidelines for controlling domestic purchasing prices for animal feed corn. The Ministry of Commerce has declared these prices effective from August 30, 2025, to July 31, 2026.

The primary objective of the Ministry of Commerce’s announcement is to ensure a fair trading environment by guaranteeing produce prices for farmers. The median purchase price for fresh animal feed corn (grain type, wi
th 30% moisture content) is set at 7.05 baht per kilogram in Phetchabun, Kamphaeng Phet, Chaiyaphum, Phichit, and Uthai Thani provinces. For dried animal feed corn (grain type, with 14.5% moisture content) at animal feed factories in Bangkok and surrounding areas, the price is 9.80 baht per kilogram.

Price adjustments for other provinces will depend on factors such as distance, transportation costs, and moisture content of the corn kernels, based on the weight deduction table issued by the Department of Internal Trade on January 24, 2019. Contracts made before the announcement’s effective date can maintain their agreed-upon prices.

Mr. Chatuporn Buruspat, Minister of Commerce, emphasized the necessity for collectors and animal feed factories to comply with the new requirements by clearly displaying purchase prices and moisture reduction rates at purchase points. Failure to adhere to the median price or incorrect weight deductions will be treated as violations under the Price of Goods and Services Act B.E. 2
542. Collectors delaying purchases without valid reasons may violate Section 30, while factories purchasing below the average price or restricting purchases may violate Section 29. Penalties include up to 7 years of imprisonment, fines up to 140,000 baht, or both.

The Department of Internal Trade will ensure compliance by dispatching inspection teams to various regions. The announcement also includes import controls for animal feed corn and wheat in 2026 under the WTO framework, requiring operators to purchase domestic animal feed corn at a 3:1 ratio, with proof of purchase at the median price.

“This announcement is designed to stabilize farmer prices, prevent market-induced price fluctuations, and offer transparency within the industry. The Ministry of Commerce is committed to enforcing strict oversight to ensure fairness for farmers,” stated Mr. Chatuporn.
