Heavy Rain Alert Issued for Thailand Due to Tropical Storm Wutip

Bangkok: A warning has been issued for heavy rain in Thailand from June 11-15, 2025, due to the impact of Tropical Storm Wutip. Mr. Chavalit Chantararat, Chief Executive Officer of TEAM Consulting Engineering and Management PCL (TEAMG), highlighted that the storm has already caused significant rainfall in Hainan and is expected to bring heavy rain to Hong Kong and Shanghai between June 12-17, 2025.

According to Thai News Agency, Tropical Storm Wutip originated in the western Pacific Ocean near the Philippines and is 2025’s first storm. It moved westward, gaining strength as a depression in the South China Sea before intensifying into a tropical storm. The storm is forecasted to bring heavy to very heavy rain to Hainan Island from June 11-15, which will subsequently lead to increased rainfall in Thailand and along the coast of Vietnam. By June 15, western and eastern regions of Thailand are expected to experience intensified rainfall.

On June 16, Tropical Storm Wutip is predicted to weaken into a depression, causing heavy rain in Hong Kong and nearby regions. The following day, June 17, Shanghai and its surrounding areas are expected to receive heavy rainfall. The storm’s trajectory suggests it will continue to impact the region, with South Korea and neighboring areas forecasted to experience heavy rain on June 18.
