Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – In a significant move to enhance economic and trade relations, Ho Chi Minh City is set to deepen its cooperation with Chinese partners. This intention was highlighted during a visit by Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao to the city on November 25. The visit marks a crucial step in strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China, now in its 15th year.
According to Vietnam News Agency, a Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the visit by the Chinese official underscores China’s commitment to bolstering bilateral relations, particularly in economic and trade cooperation. This visit is viewed as a meaningful gesture in the ongoing efforts to enhance ties between the two nations.
Nen emphasized that Ho Chi Minh City, alongside various ministries, agencies, and localities of the two countries, is actively working to implement the shared visions of the leaders of both nations. The city is keen to collaborate with Chinese localities, especially those that have established friendship and cooperation ties, to promote economic and trade collaboration for the benefit of both countries’ populations.
Wang, in his response, stated that his visit aims to further strengthen the economic and trade connections between China and Vietnam, particularly at the local level. This effort contributes to realizing the cooperation policies set forth by the leadership of the two nations in economic and trade sectors.
He mentioned that Chinese ministries, agencies, and localities are dedicated to fostering trade cooperation with Vietnam. Wang highlighted China’s support and facilitation of investment and expansion by capable businesses in Vietnam, including in Ho Chi Minh City. He noted the southern economic hub’s attractiveness for investment and suggested that both China and Vietnam, particularly Chinese localities and Ho Chi Minh City, have significant potential to expand their economic and trade cooperation. Areas such as the digital economy, green economy, and e-commerce were identified as new fields with growth potential.
To further these goals, China has extended an invitation to Ho Chi Minh City businesses to participate in international fairs and exhibitions in China. This move is aimed at enhancing trade and investment promotion opportunities between the two sides, with a focus on increasing bilateral trade between Vietnam and China.
