Vietnam President’s Visit to Tokyo Marks 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Ties with Japan

Tokyo: President Vo Van Thuong of Vietnam, along with his spouse and a high-ranking delegation, arrived at Haneda International Airport in Tokyo on the evening of November 26, commencing their official visit to Japan upon the invitation of the Japanese State. This visit marks a significant milestone as both nations celebrate the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the delegation received a warm reception from Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio and his wife, officials from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu and his wife, staff of the Vietnamese Embassy, and members of the Vietnamese community in Japan.

The visit is poised to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Japan. During his stay, President Thuong is slated to engage in a series of high-profile meetings and activities. His agenda includes talks with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, meetings with the Japanese Emperor and Empress, and interactions with top leaders of Japan. A notable highlight of his visit is a speech scheduled at the Japanese National Diet.

Furthermore, President Thuong will participate in a ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations, alongside other significant engagements. His itinerary also includes a visit to Fukuoka prefecture, where he is expected to partake in various activities, further underlining the multifaceted cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and Japan.
