Hunt for Pickup Truck That Broke Through Checkpoint and Shot a Police Officer in Nakhon Ratchasima

Nakhon ratchasima: Audacious! A suspicious pickup truck broke through a drug checkpoint in Korat and then used a gun to shoot a police officer, injuring him.

According to Thai News Agency, in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, a thrilling incident occurred when police from Bu Lai Police Station chased a pickup truck on Mittraphap Road, inbound to Phon District, Khon Kaen Province, after the vehicle drove into a drug checkpoint and acted suspiciously. The police asked to search it, and the vehicle quickly sped away.

Officers therefore drove their patrol car to follow closely. When they saw that the situation was urgent, the perpetrators used an unknown gun to shoot back at the police, causing Pol. Sgt. Maj. Chananarong, aged 36, to sustain a head injury and be taken to Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital for treatment. The commander of Provincial Police Region 3 ordered close care and assistance for the injured police officer, and to urgently track down the perpetrators.
