In the case of a woman from Non Thai who withdrew 10,000 baht from an ATM but the money disappeared, she reported it to the police, fearing that someone had stolen the money. The latest news is that the ATM had a problem and the bank is preparing to transfer the money back to her account.
On September 26, 2014, Ms. Kesorn, a resident of Non Thai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, withdrew 10,000 baht, which the government transferred as part of the economic stimulus program, from an ATM in a gas station in Non Thai District. The ATM had a problem and could not withdraw money. The victim went to withdraw money at another bank, but found that the 10,000 baht was no longer in her account. She reported the incident to the Non Thai Police Station to track down the person who took the money from the ATM, as previously reported.
The latest today, reporters called Pol. Lt. Col. Thawat Boonkaeha, Deputy Superintendent of Non Thai Police Station, to inquire about the progress of the case. Pol. Lt. Col. Thawat rev
ealed that after the police officers received the report, they went to check the CCTV footage at the gas station and did not find anyone taking the victim’s money. When asking the bank that owned the ATM, they confirmed that it was due to a system error of the ATM at that location, which has happened many times already. The ATM staff said that the machine recorded that the money had already been withdrawn from the account, causing the system to deduct money from the bank account, but the machine was stuck with money in the cash slot, making it impossible to open and take out the money. When the money was stuck for about 10 minutes, the machine sucked the money back into the ATM because the CCTV footage did not find anyone taking the victim’s money. The bank will have the ATM staff come to inspect again on Monday, September 29, and the bank has confirmed that the victim will definitely get the money back. The Non Thai Police have already informed the victim, and the victim understands. And wait for the money t
o be returned to the account in the next 2-3 days.
