Jakarta (ANTARA) – Authority for the new capital city IKN Nusantara (OIKN) highlighted that unmanned bus technology can be applied in IKN Nusantara, East Kalimantan.”With proper trials, we hope we can implement unmanned bus technology in the next two to three years,” Head of OIKN Bambang Susantono stated during a working meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) Budget Committee in Jakarta on Monday. He remarked that the application of unmanned bus technology includes policies for controlling and operating the bus. “We hope some of the unmanned bus equipment in IKN Nusantara can use the latest technology,” Susantono stated. He noted that OIKN will provide bus transportation modes and the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system as the first means of public transportation to serve IKN Nusantara residents. Law Number 3 of 2022 on the National Capital stipulates that for public transportation to attract public interest, the public transportation network must be accessible with active mobility. To accommodate tertiary networks that are built extensively to guarantee first/last mile connectivity, public transportation systems must provide high-frequency and large-capacity services to anticipate potential surges in passengers during peak hours while still maintaining aspects of speed and comfort during travel. The bus network is programmed to serve passengers from secondary highway networks to primary public transportation centers and vice versa. The network also connects future tertiary corridors as first/last mile long-distance service providers. The network will be developed with an approach that divides the IKN area into three parts to create a more focused service area, with route lengths that are comfortable for urban bus travel. These mobility hubs enable IKN to meet the mobility needs that are more integrated, seamless, and ready to meet the future by combining key innovations.
