Indonesia’s COVID-19 case count rose by 2,089 on Thursday, taking the total tally to 6,028,413, the COVID-19 Handling Task Force reported.

According to the task force data received here on Thursday, the provinces that recorded the most cases were Jakarta, with 674 cases; West Java, 366 cases; Banten, 204 cases; Central Java, 183 cases; and East Java, with 143 new cases.

Meanwhile, the data showed that the number of people recovering from COVID-19 increased by 5,888 on Thursday, taking total recoveries nationwide to 5,794,602.

As per the task force data, the provinces that reported the most recoveries on Thursday were West Java, with 2,374 recoveries; Jakarta, 811 recoveries; Central Java, 643 recoveries; Yogyakarta, 425 recoveries; and East Nusa Tenggara, with 254 recoveries.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19-related fatalities increased by 45 to 155,509. The provinces that recorded the most fatalities on Thursday were East Java, with 11 deaths; Central Java, 7 deaths; Jakarta, 5 deaths; Yogyakarta, 5 deaths; and West Java, 3 deaths.

The task force recorded that as of Thursday, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Indonesia stood at 78,302, down by 3,844 compared to Wednesday.

Further, as many as 4,467 suspected cases were identified, while the number of tested specimens reached 129,741.

Earlier, government spokesperson for COVID-19 handling, Wiku Adisasmito, appealed to Indonesians to continue to wear masks while conducting their activities during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan to prevent COVID-19 transmission.

“Wearing masks should be an indispensable habit during shopping, visiting relatives, or attending worship activities at mosques,” Adisasmito said.

The spokesperson lauded Indonesians for continuing to comply with the health protocols so that the number of COVID-19 cases in the country could be reduced.

He also urged all relevant parties to continuously supervise the implementation of health protocols in their surrounding areas.
