Indonesian Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G. Plate said G20 countries need to focus on digital transformation as it is a crucial element to drive economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.
“(Accelerating digital transformation) is also a supporting component to build a more resilient and powerful nation,” Plate stated in a press statement that ANTARA quoted here Friday.
He joined the first session of the online G20 ministerial meeting which focused on issues related to digital transformation of the economy and society as a leverage for resilient, sustainable and inclusive recovery on Thursday.
At the meeting, Plate remarked that digital transformation can incentivize the business model change, increase opportunities that can add value, and push for a cross-sectoral business mindset change.
To this end, Indonesia has voiced its commitment to continuing its digital transformation for fostering sustainable growth.
Moreover, he shed light on Indonesia’s Digital Roadmap 2021-2024 designed to be the country’s digital transformation guideline. Indonesia’s Digital Roadmap 2021-2024 comprises four elements: digital infrastructure, digital management, digital citizens, and digital economy.
To ensure the success of digital infrastructure development, the government has implemented a blended financing scheme, with the objective of raising the internet link ratio sustainably, and reducing Indonesia’s digital disparity.
Plate noted that the government had also worked towards creating digital citizens through digital literacy and competence training.
In addition, the government has facilitated several micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to make them more competent to develop their businesses on digital platforms.
Indonesia also urges G20 countries to boost collaboration in order to optimize digital opportunities and economic benefits.
As a forum for the world’s largest economies, Indonesia is sanguine that the G20 can play a primary role in realizing better and sustainable digital transformation.
