Indonesian govt determined to raise awareness on SDGs

Jakarta- The government is determined to raise awareness on the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and strive to garner support for realizing the 2030 vision, Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Suharso Monoarfa has said.

“Indonesia is striving to realize the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” he said in a post on his Instagram account @suharsomonoarfa on Friday.

“We are determined to improve the life quality of Indonesians by applying sustainable development practices to achieve collective prosperity,” he added.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on Indonesia’s economy, the government has carried out recovery measures, starting from the provision of social aid and incentives to fiscal policy recovery, he added.

This is considered to have helped Indonesia return to a post-pandemic healthy economic growth route. The effort is expected to encourage Indonesia to realize the SDGs, which comprise 17 goals and 169 targets, by 2030.

In addition to achieving the SDGs by 2030, Indonesia is aiming to break free from the middle-income trap by 2036, reach the poverty alleviation goal, and become a developed country.

By 2036, Indonesia is hoping to be successful in improving the quality of life of its citizens through increased investment in health, education, infrastructure, and technology.

“This is the result of the government and the people’s hard work to reach this goal. Indonesia is entering its golden age and will become an example for all countries around it,” Monoarfa remarked.

Indonesia’s major dream is to become a developed country with high competitiveness by 2045.

Through collective effort and close cooperation, the government is determined to achieve the 2045 Golden Indonesia goal to turn Indonesia into a prosperous, safe, sovereign, independent, and competitive country.

“Together, we will strive to improve the quality of human resources, public services, infrastructures, and natural resources management to create sustainable development that produces prosperity for all Indonesians,” Monoarfa said.
