Jakarta bolsters digital innovation to curb illegal levies

The Jakarta provincial government is accelerating the innovation of digital services for issuing licenses to reduce the potential for illegal levies (pungli) in the capital.

“The eradication of all forms of illegal levies in public services and the acceleration of world-class bureaucratic reform continue to be pursued,” head of the Investment Integrated One-Stop Service Center (DPMPTSP), Benni Aguscandra, informed here on Thursday.

According to him, each service is being adapted to technological developments, such as the licensing pick-up service (AJIB), which has attracted public interest.

People can now access AJIB services through the pelayanan.jakarta.go.id website or through the call center PTSP 1500164.

AJIB officers will assist in licensing and non-licensing services free of charge, starting from the stage of filing applications to the issuance of licenses on-site at the business locations.

“AJIB officers will come to homes or offices to assist with the licensing or non-licensing process in the Jakarta area, starting from the application and online submission, until the license is issued,” Aguscandra informed.

The Jakarta DPMPTSP has made several innovations in public services, such as the launch of the Virtual Public Service Mall (MPP), by prioritizing digital services that can be accessed through the pelayanan.jakarta.go.id page.

The virtual MPP prioritizes the provision of comprehensive digital services ranging from the filing of new licensing or non-licensing applications to technical consultations with DPMPTSP staff.

The management unit of the Jakarta Investment Center (JIC) is also seeking to attract domestic and foreign investment. JIC serves as a forum for potential investors to obtain information about potential projects in Jakarta.

Aguscandra said that digital service innovations have attracted some figures from friendly countries, including South Korea’s first Minister of the Interior and Safety, Lee Sang-min, who visited the Jakarta Public Service Mall some time ago.

Cambodia’s Prak Sam Oeun, director-general of the General Department of Administration of the Ministry of Interior, has also expressed an interest in replicating AJIB and other service innovations.
