Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Jakarta Health Office has distributed 49 thousand doses of the Zifivax vaccine to 44 public health centers (puskesmas) in the capital city to make the third or booster dose COVID-19 vaccination a success.

“The office received the vaccines from the Ministry of Health on November 21, 2022,” Jakarta Health Office’s surveillance, epidemiology, and immunization chief, Ngabila Salama, informed here on Monday.

In addition, COVID-19 vaccines will be available at the vaccination center in Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta, which will remain open Monday through Sunday   until December 31.

According to the health office’s data, the Zifivax vaccine can be administered as the third dose to people who have received the Sinovac or Sinopharm vaccines for their first and second dose vaccination.

Zifivax is a COVID-19 vaccine based on an antigenic recombinant subunit protein platform that is composed of a spike glycoprotein, which can trigger the formation of antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, a total of 12.69 million Jakarta residents, or 135 percent of the 10 million targeted recipients, have received the first vaccination dose.

Meanwhile, the second dose vaccination coverage has reached 10.8 million and the third dose 5.2 million or 69.7 percent of the target.

The  current COVID-19 vaccine stock in Jakarta reaches 186,976 doses.

The vaccine stocks are estimated to be sufficient for the next 33 days based on last week’s average vaccination rate, which stood at 5,556 vaccinations.

Earlier, the ministry delivered 34,125 vials of the Pfizer vaccine, equivalent to 204 thousand doses, to Jakarta at the end of October.

A single vial of the vaccine can be used to administer the full dose to six people.
