Jakarta government operates 11 buses to expedite vaccination coverage

The Jakarta provincial government is operating 11 school buses in order to expedite COVID-19 vaccination for children and adults, School Transportation Manager Unit Head at Jakarta’s Transportation Office Ali Murthadho stated.

The 11 school buses serve to escort health workers to vaccination locations, he told ANTARA here on Wednesday.

Such means of transportation are assigned in accordance with the schedule determined by the military, he noted.

According to the schedule, the buses are assigned to drop and pick up health workers to and from the vaccine centers in five regions of Jakarta.

After the assigned tasks are completed, the cabins and seats of these buses will be sterilized by spraying disinfectant.

To this day, these buses are still in operation.

“We strive to operate them with maximum capacity,” he emphasized.

Earlier, school buses also plied COVID-19 patients in Krukut, Taman Sari, West Jakarta, to the Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital for COVID-19 in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

“We have prepared four buses with four drivers that are always ready if needed,” Murthadho noted on Tuesday.

These four buses comprise two mini buses capable of carrying 17 people and two medium buses, with a capacity to transport 20 people.

“These buses will come to pick up when there is a call from the village,” he explained.

Once the buses have transported patients to Wisma Atlet, they are immediately sterilized with disinfectant.

Drivers and workers from the Public Health Center (Puskesmas) have started to transport Krukut residents confirmed positive since last week.

To this day, the four buses are still on standby throughout the COVID-19 tracking process in Krukut.

“We expect this effort to help officials in the village in evacuating residents, who are confirmed positive,” he added.
