Jatuporn to Visit Nakhon Si Thammarat to Address Agricultural Product Challenges

Nakhon si thammarat: “Jatuporn”, Minister of Commerce, is scheduled to visit Nakhon Si Thammarat Province tomorrow to address issues related to agricultural products. This visit is part of ongoing trade and tax negotiations with the United States.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chatuporn Buruspat, the Minister of Commerce, responded to media inquiries about the current Thai fruit crisis, indicating that he has coordinated with the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives. The aim is to collaboratively address the agricultural challenges across various stages-upstream, midstream, and downstream. The Ministry of Commerce is tasked with identifying markets, emphasizing a system-wide collaboration without departmental boundaries.

With regard to counterfeit products, Mr. Chatuporn mentioned that Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Deputy Minister of Commerce, will continue to oversee this issue. He affirmed his commitment to addressing the problem of low agricultural product prices, starting with his visit to Nakhon Si Thammarat Province and subsequently to Nong Khai Province.

On the topic of trade negotiations with the United States, Mr. Chatuporn noted that discussions are ongoing, pending the return of Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira from the United States. The negotiations aim to address the 20% tariff rate imposed by Vietnam, with all planned negotiations proceeding as intended.

Mr. Jatuporn also highlighted the urgency of implementing policies under the principle of ‘Thai makes, Thai uses, Thai helps Thai’. He emphasized the importance of private sector involvement in production and market expansion, aligning with the Ministry of Commerce’s policy. He acknowledged the challenge this represents for him personally and expressed his readiness to tackle it with full commitment.
