Jejakk festival strengthens creative district, city network: Minister

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The 2023 Indonesian Creative District/City Network (Jejakk) festival is aimed at strengthening networking and collaboration of all creative districts and cities as well as to mutually strengthen the creative economy potential and market expansion."(This is) so that the space for innovation, adaptation, and collaboration is increasingly wide open," Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno remarked here on Saturday. t the event opening in Semarang, Central Java, on Friday (May 19), he said that the Jejakk event is being held until May 21. The public can see creative economy products from 35 creative districts and cities in Central Java and also from other regions in Indonesia. In addition, several tourist destinations, including tourism villages, were promoted at the event. Semarang City is chosen as the event location on account of the seriousness shown by the city and provincial government in developing the creative economy ecosystem. Central Java is the province with the most creative districts and cities, with nine being just designated, and 19 having undergone the Indonesian district and city self-assessment process. Uno expects that implementation of the event can motivate other districts and cities to continue to strengthen the creative economy potential in their respective regions, as six districts and cities are striving to be included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN). Meanwhile, the ministry's Director of Creative Economy Infrastructure, Hariyanto, said that the Jejakk Indonesia event is the summit of Indonesia's creative district and city program. "Next, this event will be held every year in other creative districts and cities in Indonesia," he remarked. Meanwhile, the Central Java Provincial Government said it supported the Jejakk activity in the Semarang Kota Tua (Old Town) area. Central Java Regional Secretary Sumarno said that his side had collaborated with the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry and the Semarang City Government in holding the Jejakk activities. "This program is to increase Central Java's economic growth in terms of the creative economy and tourism sectors," Sumarno stated.
