Jel Saraburi Clinches Silver at 2025 World Games Snooker Event

Chengdu: Narucha “Jel Saraburi” Phempool, a Thai female snooker player, secured a silver medal after losing to Bai Yu Lu, a two-time women’s world champion from China, by 0-2 frames in the 6-red snooker event at the 2025 World Games.

According to Thai News Agency, the 12th World Games, held in Chengdu, People’s Republic of China, witnessed an intense final round in the Billiards Sports, Women’s 6-Red Snooker category. Narucha Permpool, also known as “Jel Saraburi,” who was the runner-up in the Women’s World Junior Championship last year, faced off against Bai Yu Lu, a recent two-time world champion from China.

In the match, Jel Saraburi put up a strong fight but ultimately lost 0-2 frames, earning her the silver medal. This achievement marked a historic milestone for Narucha Permpool as the first Thai cueist to achieve such a high level of performance at the World Games. Her success was recognized with a bonus of 500,000 baht from the National Sports Development Fund. Meanwhile, Bai Yu Lu claimed the gold medal, and another Thai cueist, “Ploy Khon Kaen” Ploychompoo Laokiatpong, secured the bronze after defeating Wendy Jans from Belgium with a score of 2-1 frames.

In another event, the Women’s Indoor Floorball team from Thailand competed in the 7th-8th place match against Canada. The Thai team led 2-1 in the first period, 4-3 in the second period, and scored three more goals in the final period, ultimately winning 7-4 to secure 7th place.

Vice Admiral Singkhon Thirasin, the team manager, commended the athletes’ performance, noting their determination and highlighting the competition from Singapore, their main rival at the upcoming SEA Games, which Thailand will host. He expressed confidence in the team’s potential to compete in the final round and the association’s goal of winning the SEA Games gold medal.
