Bang bua thong: A junior security guard, Mr. Manit, 22, fatally stabbed his senior colleague, Mr. Chalermkiat, 50, at a village guard post in Tambon Phimonrat, Amphoe Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi Province. Following an argument, the junior guard surrendered to authorities, claiming the senior guard was drunk, late for work, and initiated the physical confrontation.
According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage from July 4, 2025, at 7:33 p.m. captured the incident. It showed an altercation inside the guardhouse between two security guards, escalating into a fistfight. The junior guard, Mr. Manit, used a knife to stab Mr. Chalermkiat under the breast. The footage later reveals the senior guard exiting the guardhouse, holding his wound, presumably to call for help, before collapsing by the roadside. Mr. Manit then dragged him back into the guardhouse and called emergency services, waiting to surrender.
Police from Bang Bua Thong Police Station, alongside forensic doctors and other authorities, discovered Mr. Chalermkiat’s body inside the guardhouse, with a fatal stab wound to the chest. Mr. Manit admitted to discarding the knife in nearby bushes and calling emergency services, but Mr. Chalermkiat had already succumbed to his injuries. Initial investigations indicate that Mr. Manit and the deceased were on the same shift, with the argument arising from the deceased’s inebriated state and tardiness.
The perpetrator’s father mentioned that Mr. Manit had been employed as a security guard for seven months and had not previously reported any workplace issues. He recounted that his son called him after the incident, confessing to the stabbing but not specifying the victim. He advised his son to surrender to police.
The deceased’s sister expressed shock, noting that her brother, a security guard for less than a year at the location, had not disclosed any conflicts. She described him as hot-tempered but was puzzled by the severity of the incident.
According to the Superintendent of Bang Bua Thong Police Station, Mr. Manit claimed that he confronted Mr. Chalermkiat about his tardiness and intoxication, leading to an altercation and the fatal stabbing. Mr. Manit stated that he acted in self-defense, believing he was punched first. He was charged with intentional murder.
Mr. Manit was detained at Nonthaburi Provincial Court. He expressed remorse to the deceased’s family, explaining that he did not intend to harm anyone with the knife, which he carried for slicing durian. He conveyed stress and regret over the incident.
