King and Queen of Thailand Attend Official Welcoming Ceremony in China

Beijing: The King and Queen of Thailand attended an official welcoming ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing during their official visit to China from November 13 to 17, 2025. The visit signifies a strengthening of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China.

According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony took place on November 14, 2025, at 10:35 a.m. local time. The King and Queen were welcomed by Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, and his wife, Mrs. Peng Liyuan. The event included the introduction of key Chinese officials such as Mr. Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau, and Mr. Zhang Jianwei, Ambassador of China to Thailand.

Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Deputy Private Secretary to His Majesty the King, introduced the Thai delegation to President Xi. The delegation included Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand, and Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkaew, Minister of Foreign Affairs, among others.

The King proceeded to the podium with President Xi to receive a royal salute, accompanied by the playing of national anthems and a 21-gun salute at Tiananmen Square. The King then inspected the honor guard, saluting the flag of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

Children waving Thai and Chinese flags greeted the King as he and President Xi reviewed a military parade. Following this, the royal couple, along with the Chinese President and his wife, posed for photographs at the Great Hall of the People.

In a meeting with President Xi, the King expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and reflected on the progress of Beijing. President Xi extended his condolences for the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.

Later, the King met with Premier Li Qiang, who praised the King’s adherence to the visit schedule despite Thailand’s recent loss. Premier Li discussed ongoing cooperation between the nations, focusing on economic development and technological advancements.

The visit will culminate in an official royal dinner at the Great Hall of the People, further symbolizing the enduring friendship between Thailand and China.
