Jakarta (ANTARA) – Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman called on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to open an office or work from the ministry’s building to reactivate supervision of agricultural development.Sulaiman stated on Friday that he had sent a request letter to the KPK regarding this matter.
“God willing, the letter will be processed. The Agriculture Ministry and the KPK have the same goals. We want to follow the law as straight as possible,” he noted.
The minister did not mention the exact date of the KPK staff to work from the ministry. However, he expected a prompt response to his request from the anti-corruption agency.
The Ministry of Agriculture also invited the KPK Deputy for Corruption Prevention Pahala Nainggolan to attend a leaders’ meeting at the ministry’s office this Friday.
However, Sulaiman remarked that Nainggolan was unable to attend the meeting. Hence, his side rescheduled the meeting for next week.
The newly inaugurated minister said he would carry out his duties in accordance with the oath of office he had taken before President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
Sulaiman believes he can improve the image of the Ministry of Agriculture after the alleged corruption cases being investigated by the KPK.
“No one can play around. I will stand by my oath to carry out my duties by upholding office ethics and carry out the laws as straight as possible for the sake of serving the nation and state,” he emphasized.
On Wednesday, October 25, President Jokowi had inaugurated Sulaiman as agriculture minister to replace Syahrul Yasin Limpo, who was involved in an alleged corruption case. Earlier, Sulaiman had served as agriculture minister during President Jokowi’s administration in the 2014-2019 period.
