Bangkok: Police have detained Ms. Krisanong Suwanwong, Director of the Anti-Corruption News Center, at the Crime Suppression Division following an arrest warrant issued by the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct. The warrant cites charges of extortion and acting as a middleman in demanding a bribe. Ms. Krisanong was taken from her residence in Pathum Thani Province to the Crime Suppression Division for interrogation, accompanied by a female police officer.
According to Thai News Agency, upon her arrival, Ms. Krisanong, dressed in a pink shirt and jeans, smiled and bowed to the media but refrained from responding to any questions posed by journalists regarding the charges against her or her defense. She proceeded directly into the Pracharak building without offering any comments.
At the investigation level, the police have announced their intention to oppose bail for Ms. Krisanong, indicating that they have the authority to detain her for up to 48 hours as the investigation continues.
