Bangkok: Krungthai Bank has announced a significant debt forgiveness initiative for soldiers and Border Patrol Police (BPP) who lost their lives or sustained severe injuries while safeguarding the Thai-Cambodian border. This move aims to honor the sacrifices made by these individuals in their duty to protect national sovereignty.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Ekkachai Techawiriyakul, Chief Risk Officer of Krungthai Bank, stated that the bank is committed to recognizing the valor of military and BPP officers who encountered life-threatening situations due to the unrest along the Thai-Cambodian border. The initiative specifically targets those who died, became disabled, or lost limbs during their service, offering complete waiver of all loan contracts, encompassing both principal and interest. This comprehensive measure is designed to alleviate the financial burdens on affected families, allowing them to navigate through challenging times.

In addition to the debt forgiveness, Krungthai Bank has extended further assistance measures for victims impacted by the Thai-Cambodian border conflict. These efforts include support for both individual and business clients, focusing on the restoration and repair of residential properties, reduction of financial burdens, and enhancement of liquidity.

Mr. Techawiriyakul expressed the bank’s commitment to supporting these families, acknowledging their faith, respect, and sacrifices. He emphasized the bank’s confidence that this measure will assist the families of soldiers and BPP, providing moral support to officers who continue to bravely fulfill their duties, with the hope of overcoming the current crisis swiftly.
