Lamphun: As the Yi Peng festival, also known as the Loi Krathong festival of the Lanna people, approaches, Lamphun Province has transformed into a dazzling display of light and color. This northern Thai province has been hosting the Hundred Thousand Lanterns Festival for over a month, captivating both locals and tourists with its enchanting display. The city, including the renowned Wat Phra That Hariphunchai, is adorned with hundreds of thousands of multi-colored lanterns, creating a mesmerizing spectacle.

According to Thai News Agency, the festival has become a major attraction, drawing over 500,000 visitors to Lamphun. Tourists have been flocking to partake in the tradition of hanging lanterns as offerings to the chedi, in accordance with their beliefs. Beyond its visual appeal, the festival plays a crucial role in preserving the Lanna lantern-making craft, ensuring that this unique cultural heritage continues to thrive.
