Bangkok: ‘Lawyer Ronnarong’ appeared before the Crime Suppression Division police, firmly stating that he has no acquaintance with ‘Madam Oi’. Mr. Ronnarong Kaewpetch, who serves as the President of the Foundation for Justice, visited the Central Investigation Bureau to provide a statement regarding the ongoing case involving Mr. Sittra Biabangkerd, also known as Lawyer Tum. The case concerns 39 million baht linked to Ms. Chatuporn, referred to as Madam Oi, leading to Lawyer Tum’s arrest on fraud charges.
According to Thai News Agency, Lawyer Ronnarong explained that investigators requested his testimony to gather additional information in the case involving Lawyer Tum. He clarified that although he had some interactions with Lawyer Tum, such as observing precepts, traveling, and dining together, they were not close friends. Lawyer Tum had invited him to his house on several occasions, mentioning its beauty and cost, but Ronnarong had never visited. He noted that Lawyer Tum’s legal fees were high, yet justif
ied the purchase of an expensive house with his income, stating that many lawyers, including Lawyer Tum, have substantial earnings.
Regarding Madam Oi, Lawyer Ronnarong mentioned he had no recollection of discussions about her with Lawyer Tum, and only became aware of her through media reports. He expressed surprise at being called in for questioning alone, noting that none of Lawyer Tum’s other friends had been summoned by the police. He acknowledged that Lawyer Tum faced criticism from colleagues due to his actions leading to his arrest, which he considered a typical response.
When questioned about visiting Lawyer Tum in prison, Lawyer Ronnarong stated that any decision regarding a visit would be made in the future, leaving the possibility open.
