Jakarta Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Minister Nadiem Anwar Makarim has said that it is important to learn from history when creating a strategy for realizing an advanced Indonesia in the future.
History is crucial for Indonesian people, hence they should not leave it behind, as the first President of Indonesia Soekarno said “Never leave history (which is popularly abbreviated in Indonesian as Jas merah)”, he added.
“It is not only a slogan, but also a message of life that we must implement,” he remarked at the virtual opening of the XI National Conference on History here on Monday.
The conference entitled ‘Global Interconnection and Cooperation in Historical Perspective’ is being held from November 8–11, 2021.
History must be passed on to the younger generations since they are the ones who will continue to develop Indonesia in the future, Makarim said.
