Madago Raya task force teaches anti-terrorism values to local pupils

Officers assigned in the Madago Raya Operation task force in Central Sulawesi paid a visit to schools in Poso District to teach anti-terrorism and anti-radicalism values to local pupils.

According to an official of the operation, anti-terrorism values are being disseminated to pupils in concert with armed deployment to capture members of the terrorist clique that remain at large in Central Sulawesi’s forests.

“The operation will not only focus on capturing the terrorists, but we have also assigned a team to disseminate anti-terrorism and anti-radicalism values to residents, particularly to the pupils,” the operation task force’s deputy head of public relations task force Adjunct Senior Commissioner Yudho Huntoro stated here  on Tuesday.

Dissemination of anti-terrorism values will be specifically for pupils in schools located in the Madago Raya operation territory, he remarked.

“Earlier this week, the Police Da’i (Muslim proselytizer) sub-task force’s pre-emptive task force II had disseminated anti-terrorism and anti-radicalism values at the Satap Ueralulu Junior High School in Poso Pesisir Sub-district, Poso,” Huntoro stated.

Apart from teaching values of anti-terrorism, pupils are also taught to not be provoked and affected by hoaxes that could disintegrate religious harmony and the nation, he remarked.

The adjunct senior commissioner stated that the visit to the junior high school was not the first of its kind, as the task force had earlier visited other schools to impart values of anti-terrorism.

“The sub-task force’s program aims to teach anti-terrorism and anti-radicalism values from an early age,” he noted.

Apart from visiting schools in Poso District, the proselytizer task force also disseminates anti-terrorism knowledge and values in the districts of Parigi Moutong and Sigi, with specific focus on pupils and the general public, the police officer remarked.

“We are optimistic that the knowledge attained through the dissemination would be comprehended by pupils that will emulate the values in their daily activities,” Huntoro remarked.

Meanwhile, the proselytizer task force team leader Second Inspector Rahmat Kurniansyah noted that the dissemination is aimed at instilling the values of nationalism, patriotism, and “Unity and Diversity”.

“Our goal is to enhance the pupils’ knowledge and confidence in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and the national unity,” Kurniansyah noted.
