Majority Supports Immediate Dissolution of Parliament and Constitutional Amendments

Bangkok: The latest survey results from the Nida Poll indicate a significant portion of the population prefers the swift dissolution of parliament without waiting four months.

According to Thai News Agency, the poll reveals that 59.24 percent of the respondents believe that parliament should be dissolved as soon as possible to expedite constitutional amendments.

The Nida Poll, conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration, surveyed 1,310 individuals between September 4-5, 2025, on their views regarding the proposal to dissolve the House of Representatives within four months. The findings show a majority support for immediate dissolution, with 27.17 percent agreeing to a four-month timeline. A minority, 9.54 percent, believes the House should serve its full term until 2027, while smaller percentages favor different time frames or remain undecided.

The survey also highlights public opinion on constitutional amendments. A notable 37.56 percent expressed a strong desire for amendments, while 28.17 percent opposed any changes. Others displayed varying levels of interest, with some undecided. Among those favoring amendments, 74.39 percent prefer a section-by-section approach, contrasting with 24.71 percent who advocate for a complete overhaul of the constitution.

These findings underscore a prevailing public sentiment for prompt legislative action and constitutional reform, reflecting a desire for political change and modernization within the framework of governance.
