The racing events held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit from November 19–21, 2021 ran safely and smoothly, Commander of the 1620 Central Lombok District Military Command has said.
“The Asian Talent Cup (IATC) and World Superbike (WSBK) have been successfully held. It was the work of the security forces deployed for the events,” Lieutenant Colonel I Putu Tangkas Wiratawan remarked here on Monday.
He lauded the 2021 Mandalika WSBK Security Task Force which consisted of personnel from the military, police, regional government, and race organizers.
“Today, the task of the security personnel has been declared complete. Thus, I thank all officers for their hard work,” Wiratawan said.
The commander said he hoped that in the future, all parties will cooperate to implement preventive and repressive attempts for anticipating any threats and disturbances in the district.
“Hence, operational security tasks in the Central Lombok district can continue to run smoothly,” he added.
The 2021 Mandalika WSBK Security Task Force involved 3,765 personnel, including military and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Public Order Security Agency (Satpol PP) personnel.
“A total of 1,875 joint personnel were deployed directly around the circuit to secure the WSBK,” NTB Regional Police chief Inspector General Mohammad Iqbal informed.
He said the personnel comprised special personnel deployed for supervising the implementation of health protocols at the international racing event.
In addition, the National Police Headquarters assigned 390 personnel as well as two helicopter units and two patrol boats for the event, the regional police head said.
“There were five security corridors with 36 security posts around the Mandalika Circuit set from the airport exit to the Songgong Roundabout,” he added.
