Manpower minister praises railway porters for services at stations

Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah commended railway porters at train stations for having offered satisfactory services to train passengers, especially during the Eid al-Fitr exodus period.

“I wish to express my gratitude to the porters that have provided satisfactory services to railway passengers,” Fauziyah noted in her statement here on Monday.

The minister made the remarks during her recent visit to Pasar Senen Station, Central Jakarta.

During her interactions with railway porters, Fauziyah recounted that in the past, she and her family were often assisted by porters while boarding the train to return to her hometown.

The minister noted that the porters’ assistance is helpful to railway passengers, especially those carrying heavy luggage.

“During Eid al-Fitr, I often take the train to return to my hometown. I live in Jakarta, but I always return to my hometown (every year). Railway porters are very helpful to my family while boarding the train to return home,” Fauziyah remarked.

The minister then expressed relief, as porters could now resume their activities after the government allowed residents to resume their homecoming tradition, as the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia had been significantly brought under control.

“We are thankful that the condition has returned close to normal. This is because the government has successfully handled the COVID-19 pandemic, and the residents are keen to help the government by taking their vaccine, until the booster vaccine, and observing health protocols,” Fauziyah remarked.

She is also optimistic that economic and health conditions in Indonesia would return to normal, as the vaccination rate continues to increase.

“If the economic condition (keeps) improving, then God Willing, we will return to the pre-pandemic condition, and we would (begin the transition) from the pandemic to the endemic stage,” the minister noted.
