Maris Joins Trilateral Talks to Address Border Disputes with China and Cambodia

Anning: “Maris” accepted “Wang Yi’s” invitation to join the three-party talks: China, Thailand, and Cambodia to resolve the border peacefully. Marish has accepted Wang Yi’s invitation to participate in trilateral talks involving China, Thailand, and Cambodia to peacefully resolve border disputes. He thanked the group for recognizing the need for demining and agreed to avoid disseminating inaccurate information on social media.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Maris Sngiampong, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, accepted the invitation of Mr. Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, to join the tea ceremony and informal talks between the foreign ministers of China, Thailand, and Cambodia during the 10th Mekong – Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Anning, Yunnan Province, People’s Republic of China.

Mr. Maris expressed appreciation for China’s constructive role in supporting the peaceful resolution of the Thailand-Cambodia dispute through various bilateral mechanisms and the effective implementation of the ceasefire agreement, supported by ASEAN. He also emphasized the urgent need for Thailand and Cambodia to cooperate in clearing landmines along the border. All parties agreed on the need to avoid the spread of misinformation on social media, as this is an important step in reducing tensions and restoring normalcy in the border area.

Mr. Marish also thanked Mr. Wang Yi for his support on this issue, which is expected to be discussed at the upcoming Regional Border Committee (RBC) meeting.
