Mass media encouraged to disseminate information about G20 Presidency

The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs called on the mass media to massively disseminate information about Indonesia’s G20 Presidency to make it known on a broader scale to members of the public.

“Contribution from the media fellows is needed in broadcasting information on the G20, fostering a sense of belonging and public engagement, and building our confidence in leading the G20 Presidency,” Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso stated during an event here on Thursday.

According to Moegiarso, the mass media held a vital role in the G20 Indonesia Presidency by disseminating information on an extensive scale through the channels they own and instilling the ideas of the event to create awareness.

The secretary noted that several terminologies and words were quite exclusive and technical, and they were not largely used during the G20 Presidency. The mass media is expected to translate it in order to make it easily comprehensible to members of the general public.

Some 438 events and 184 main events lined up under Indonesia’s G20 presidency comprise one Summit, 20 Ministerial and Central Bank Governors’ Level Meetings, 17 Sherpa/Deputy Level Meetings, 56 WG Level Meetings, and 90 EG Level Meetings.

Sherpa Track arrangements are stipulated in the Decree of the Economic Affairs Ministry Number 27 of 2022 on the Membership Structure and Matrix of the Agenda for the Sherpa Track Working Group of the 2022 Indonesian G20 Presidency.

Moegiarso noted that three main topics will be discussed throughout the entire series of events comprising the global health architecture, digital-based economic transformation, and energy transition.

“We have readied the substance of the material, so that fellows from the media can communicate it to the public in order to (build) public understanding and foster community engagement,” he concluded.
