Mathayom 5 Student’s Attack on Teacher Sparks Urgent Investigation

Uthai thani: A Mathayom 5 student attacked a teacher at a school in Uthai Thani Province after becoming dissatisfied with his test scores. This incident has escalated into a criminal case, prompting an immediate investigation. Initially, the student was suspended from school, but his parents later sought his resignation.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident unfolded when a male Grade 11 student repeatedly punched a female teacher in front of the classroom. Despite the teacher’s attempts to escape, the student continued his assault by kneeing and kicking her. The classroom atmosphere was tense, as classmates hesitated to intervene, fearing potential harm. A male teacher eventually stopped the attack. The reason behind this violent outburst was linked to the student’s dissatisfaction with his test scores, which he perceived as unfair.

Prior to the attack, the teacher was announcing midterm exam results. When the student inquired about his score, the teacher informed him that he had received 18 points. Dissatisfied, the student scrutinized his score, particularly focusing on the section requiring demonstration of problem-solving methods. The teacher explained that the student had provided only the correct answers without showing the necessary steps, thus not qualifying for full points. Despite seeking validation from other teachers, who corroborated the score, the student remained agitated.

The situation escalated when the student demanded an apology from the teacher, which the teacher questioned. In response, the student attacked her, resulting in bruises to her eye, a swollen head, and inflamed ribs. The teacher reported the incident to the Nong Chang Police Station on August 8th, and the police are scheduled to interview the student on August 12th.

In the aftermath, the student’s parents reached out to the teacher to apologize for their son’s behavior. Following the incident, the student faced suspension and ultimately resigned from the school.
