Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning about heavy rainfall expected in certain areas of the Northeast and Eastern regions of Thailand. Specifically, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces are forecast to experience significant precipitation. Residents in these regions are urged to remain cautious and aware of potential hazards associated with the heavy rain. Additionally, there is a 60% likelihood of thunderstorms occurring in Bangkok and its surrounding areas.
According to Thai News Agency, the forecast suggests that the heavy rain will persist over the next 24 hours in the affected provinces due to the moderate southwest monsoon strengthening over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. This meteorological development is anticipated to bring about adverse weather conditions in the specified regions.
Sea conditions in the upper Andaman Sea are expected to see waves reaching heights of 1-2 meters. Meanwhile, in the lower Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, wave heights are projected to be approximately 1 meter, with areas experiencing thunderstorms seeing waves exceeding 2 meters. Mariners are advised to exercise caution and avoid navigating through regions experiencing thunderstorms.
Furthermore, at 1:00 a.m. today, Typhoon “MATMO” weakened into a severe tropical storm before making landfall in Guangxi Province, southern China. The storm is currently moving in a northwestward direction and is anticipated to weaken rapidly. It is important to note that this storm is not expected to enter Thailand.
In Bangkok and the surrounding vicinity, thunderstorms are anticipated with a 60% chance of rain. Temperatures in the area are predicted to range from a minimum of 23-25 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 30-32 degrees Celsius.
