Bangkok: The Minister of Tourism and Sports has accepted the position of chairman for the Princess Cup Thailand 2025 equestrian competition, scheduled to be held from December 22-28 at the equestrian field of the 2nd Cavalry Division, King’s Guard. Mr. Surawong Thienthong, who serves as the Minister of Tourism and Sports, chaired a meeting to discuss the organization of this prestigious event. The meeting included Mr. Preecha Lalun, Deputy Governor for Sports Excellence and Sports Science, Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT).
According to Thai News Agency, the process of seeking royal approval for the Princess’s Cup Thailand 2025 is currently underway, with a letter being sent to His Majesty the King’s Private Secretary. Mr. Surawong has agreed to lead the competition and has proposed the formation of eight subcommittees to facilitate the event’s organization.
In a related event, Ms. Natthariya Thaweewong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and Chairwoman of the FIVB Women’s World Championships 2025, convened a meeting to prepare for the championship scheduled from August 22 to September 7. The meeting was attended by Mr. Sruangsri Thienthong, who observed in his capacity as Advisor to the Competition Organizer, along with Mr. Preecha Lalun and Mr. Somporn Usibangyang, President of the Volleyball Association of Thailand.
Meanwhile, Professor Supachai Patumnakul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, offered guidance and encouragement to athletes and officials preparing for the 2025 Summer Universiade in Germany’s Rhine-Ruhr region from July 16-27. Thailand plans to send 62 athletes and 69 officials across nine sports, aiming for two gold medals while using the event to prepare for future international competitions like the SEA Games, Asian Games, and Olympic Games.
