Ministry of Education Unveils ‘Knowledge Box for Happiness’ as New Year’s Gift for Students.

Bangkok: The Ministry of Education is set to launch the ‘Knowledge Box for Happiness’ as the first New Year’s gift for students, alongside granting Mathayom 6 students a one-week break to prepare for the upcoming TGAT/TPAT exams. Pol. Gen. Permpoon Chidchob, Minister of Education, chaired the Ministry of Education Coordination Meeting, where it was announced that the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) will provide free online tutoring for these students from December 2-6, 2567. This initiative aims to allow students to enhance their knowledge from home during the break, which is considered a normal study period. Educational institutions prepared to do so can also offer tutoring with quality monitoring measures.

According to Thai News Agency, the Minister of Education also reviewed progress in improving the quality of PISA education. OBEC reported on training administrators, core teachers, educational supervisors, and central personnel to better manage the facilitation system. This includes devel
oping online tests in reading, mathematics, and science via platforms like Quizizz, Quizalize, and Gimkit. Additionally, efforts are underway to integrate educational institutions to create core teachers who can design test questions and address operational challenges.

Furthermore, the Information and Communication Technology Center, under the Office of the Permanent Secretary, is managing a database system to track school-aged children outside the education system. This initiative, accessible at https://exchang.moe.go.th, features real-time data updates. OBEC has also launched the ‘Bringing Children Back to School, Bringing Learning to Children’ project across various areas, aiming to encourage children to return to education.

The Department of Non-Formal Education has identified challenges faced by children outside the system and developed a model to facilitate their return to school. By December 25, 2024, the implementation model and legal regulations will be finalized, with plans to expand the system to
other agencies for effective integration.

The New Year’s initiatives from the Ministry of Education aim to bring joy to students, teachers, and educational personnel. Projects such as the Volunteer Vocational Center, which offers free vehicle inspections before the New Year Festival 2025, are also in the pipeline. The Minister highlighted the ‘Sub Set, Good Study, Happy’ work format as a collaborative effort among all agencies under the ministry’s supervision.
