Bangkok: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has firmly denied accusations that Thailand is involved in an assassination attempt against Hun Sen, Cambodia’s Senate President, asserting that such claims are baseless and undermine diplomatic efforts. The Ministry criticized the allegations as lacking rational consideration and emphasized their detrimental impact on dialogue aimed at resolving tensions.
According to Thai News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to reports and social media posts by the Cambodian Minister of Information. These claims suggested that Thailand was planning to assassinate Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet, based on foreign intelligence sources. Mr. Nikorndej Plangkura, Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson for the Ministry, firmly rejected these allegations, stating they were intended to defame Thailand.
Mr. Plangkura highlighted the importance of accurate information, especially during ongoing discussions between the two nations. He stressed that spreading false news during GBC discussions is counterproductive and undermines efforts to peacefully resolve the situation.
