The Manpower Ministry has said that it is ready to synergize its programs with labor-intensive programs and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Surabaya city, East Java.
“We hope that the programs from the Manpower Ministry can be fully supported by the Mayor,” Deputy Manpower Minister Afriansyah Noor said during a meeting with Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi here on Wednesday.
According to the government, labor-intensive programs are being bolstered to help create jobs and maintain the people’s purchasing power.
Noor said he is optimistic that synergizing the ministry’s programs with Surabaya’s labor-intensive programs and MSMEs will have a good impact on the welfare of the city’s residents.
“Hopefully, the leadership of Mayor Eri Cahyadi can bring the Surabaya city much better,” the deputy minister added.
Meanwhile, Cahyadi said that the Surabaya city government will collaborate with the ministry to improve the welfare of residents. The collaboration will include labor-intensive and independent training programs, among other things.
“Alhamdulillah (Thank God), there are many labor-intensive programs that we can collaborate with the ministry on, especially, about independent training,” he added.
To that end, he asked the head of the Surabaya City Industry and Manpower Office to prepare data and budget plans for MSMEs in 2023.
“After that, we ask to assist the self-training for the labor-intensive (program). That way, Mr. Deputy Minister’s program will be matching with the city government’s, if this is synergized it will be extraordinary,” he said.
The training will be carried out in 2022. After the training, the synergized program can be implemented in 2023, he explained.
“This is called people’s and national development; it must be in line with the programs of the central government and city/local governments,” Cahyadi remarked.
