Bangkok: Most polls indicate that the majority of the public supports peaceful solutions to the ongoing conflict between Thailand and Cambodia. The latest survey results show that 67.9% of respondents prefer negotiations as the means to resolve the issue.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, the Deputy Government Spokesperson, shared the findings of a public opinion survey conducted by North Bangkok Poll. The survey, titled ‘The Conflict between Thailand and Cambodia,’ highlighted that 68.1% of the public are well-informed about the situation and regularly follow updates on the conflict.
When respondents were asked about the best approach to resolve the conflict, 67.9% advocated for peaceful negotiations, while 25.4% suggested going to war, and 6.7% expressed no opinion. The survey also gauged public opinion on the Prime Minister’s peaceful policy, revealing that 55% of the public agreed with this approach, considering it appropriate.
Ms. Sasikarn emphasized that the survey reflects public concern and engagement with the international situation, supporting the government’s strategy of peaceful policy implementation. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting the country’s highest interests and upholding its sovereignty.
