Motorcycle Smuggler Narrowly Escapes Across Hueang River

Bangkok: Border Patrol Police officers engaged in a high-stakes chase with a criminal attempting to smuggle a motorcycle across the Laos border. The suspect, in a bid to evade capture, leapt into the fast-flowing Hueang River and narrowly escaped.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident unfolded when Border Patrol Police 246, under the leadership of Pol. Lt. Col. Sumet Phonliam, Company Commander of the Lad Pu Operations Base, pursued the suspect in the vicinity of Kaeng Khruea Hao, Ban Pak Huai, Village No. 7, Nong Phue Subdistrict, Tha Li District, Loei Province. The suspect was spotted transporting a black motorcycle, lacking a license plate, onto a kip boat for the purpose of crossing into Laos. Upon being approached by the officers, the individual abandoned the motorcycle and plunged into the turbulent waters of the Hueang River, managing to evade capture. The entire episode was recorded on body-mounted CCTV cameras worn by the officers.

Following the daring escape, officials proceeded to inspect and seize the motorcycle. Coordination with the Tha Li Customs Department was initiated to hand over the vehicle to investigators at the Tha Li Police Station for further legal proceedings.
