Pattaya: A fight erupted between a motorcycle taxi driver and a Myanmar passenger in the early hours, necessitating police intervention to break up the altercation. Ultimately, both individuals were charged with jointly fighting and fined 1,000 baht each.
According to Thai News Agency, the altercation occurred at 2:30 a.m. at Pattaya Beach Soi 9, adjacent to the Pattaya City Police Station. A 31-year-old Burmese man and a 36-year-old motorcycle taxi driver engaged in a violent confrontation, prompting police officers from the nearby station to intervene.
The conflict began when the Burmese man, accompanied by a Thai woman he considered his adoptive mother, hired the taxi driver, identified as Mr. Chaisan, to transport him from an entertainment venue to his residence. Upon arriving at Pattaya Beach, Soi 9, a dispute arose when the Burmese man’s wife requested the driver to turn into an alley. The driver questioned their presence there, leading to a heated argument that escalated into a physical fight next to
the police station. During the altercation, the Burmese man was stabbed once by the motorcycle taxi driver before fleeing to a police flat for safety.
The adoptive mother, who was also a passenger, attempted to prevent the situation from escalating by offering to pay the fare, but her efforts were unsuccessful due to the tempers of both parties involved.
After an hour of discussion facilitated by the police, the individuals reached an agreement. They were subsequently charged with fighting and fined 1,000 baht each.
