Narathiwat Authorities Seize 900 kg of Crystal Methamphetamine Hidden in Vegetable Truck

Narathiwat: In a significant drug bust, authorities in Narathiwat have seized a massive 900 kg haul of crystal methamphetamine that was cleverly concealed in a vehicle transporting vegetables. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, shared the news of this successful operation, which underscores the government’s firm stance on combating drug trafficking.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham revealed that the operation was conducted in collaboration with various agencies. Acting on information from Narathiwat Governor, Lieutenant Colonel Trakul Thotham, officials tracked and searched a pickup truck in Tak Bai District, Narathiwat Province. The vehicle, involved in illegal drug trafficking, was found to be carrying 30 sacks of Category 1 narcotics, commonly known as “ice,” weighing approximately 900 kilograms. The suspect associated with this operation has been apprehended.

Mr. Phumtham further stated that Justice Minister Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong and Deputy Interior Minister Decha Isara Khaothong have been tasked with overseeing the ongoing operations in Narathiwat Province. They are set to participate in the announcement of the arrests. He extended his encouragement to the officers involved through the provincial governor, lauding their dedication and diligence in bringing this large-scale drug smuggling case to a successful conclusion. Moreover, he has directed the officials to continue their efforts in monitoring and expanding the arrests, ensuring that the crackdown on drug trafficking remains relentless.
