Sa kaeo: The National Police Chief visited the border area of Sa Kaeo Province and confirmed that police are ready, morale is high, and equipment is in place to support military operations. He is only waiting for orders.
According to Thai News Agency, National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panpetch inspected the area and personnel at Ban Nong Chan in Sa Kaeo Province. After approximately 20 minutes of inspection, the Commissioner-General presented supplies and offered words of encouragement to the personnel. He stated that he had come to meet the personnel at the forefront of the Ban Nong Chan line to offer encouragement and supplies to support their livelihood. He also inquired about any additional needs, including equipment and utilities. Discussions included working with the military and operating under military tactics.
Morale was highlighted as a primary concern, with everyone reportedly in high spirits and ready to perform their duties. Equipment logistics were also addressed, with an efficient rotation system ensuring readiness.
During the inspection, it was observed that about five houses had been vacated by Cambodian residents, while a more densely populated community remained cordoned off without any incidents yet reported.
The National Police Chief referenced the September 17 clash, emphasizing the importance of learning from every step of the process. It is believed that the other side has also learned and possibly developed more sophisticated tactics.
The police chief reiterated the police’s preparedness but emphasized that they are under military operations, awaiting orders under martial law to protect Thai territory and sovereignty. Negotiation remains a priority, but enforcement of the law will follow if necessary. The police are tasked with operating in both front-line and rear-line capacities to care for and evacuate civilians if required.
Regarding illegal cross-border workers, they will face prosecution under Thai law before immediate deportation to avoid additional burdens on resources. The responsibility of pushing Cambodia out of the area lies with the military, but the police are prepared to support the protection of Thai sovereignty. The police stand ready to uphold and enforce the law in maintaining Thai territory.
