Bangkok: The Ministry of Interior has announced that a ceremonial event will be held across 76 provinces and 878 districts to honor the memory of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. This event will allow the public to participate in expressing their condolences by pouring water over the royal corpse in front of a portrait of the Queen Mother.
According to Thai News Agency, the Cabinet has resolved to have the Ministry of Interior and Bangkok organize this royal merit-making event, ensuring that people from all walks of life can participate in mourning the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, has communicated guidelines for the Royal Cremation Ceremony to the governors of all provinces. These ceremonies are scheduled for Sunday, October 26, 2025.
The ceremonies will include pouring water over the royal corpse in front of the Queen Mother’s portrait from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Additionally, tables and chairs will be arranged for signing condolences, and the venues will be decorated with black and white cloth to reflect the solemnity of the occasion. Government officials and state enterprise employees are instructed to wear white uniforms with mourning arm decorations, while the general public is asked to dress in mourning attire.
The Ministry of Interior extends an invitation to civil servants, employees, officials, and the general public to participate in these ceremonies at designated locations throughout the provinces and districts on the specified date and time.
