Naval Base XIII intensifies vaccinations in border area

Naval Base (Lantamal) XIII said it has ramped up COVID-19 vaccinations in Sebatik, Nunukan District, North Kalimantan, which borders Malaysia.

“In principle, we continue to work with the government to support its effort to handle and prevent COVID-19 without delay,” Commander of Naval Base XIII, Lieutenant Colonel Nonot Eko Febrianto, said while reviewing vaccinations of residents at Aztrada 88 Building in Sebatik, Nunukan on Saturday.

The vaccination drive aligns with the instruction given by Naval Chief of Staff, Admiral Yudo Margono, to work together to break the chain of COVID-19 spread so that the people’s economy and life can return to normal, he said.

It also supports the government’s program to curb the spread of COVID-19 and create herd immunity, he said.

In general, residents received their second COVID-19 vaccine during the program, he added.

The vaccination program involved officials from the health section of the Naval Base XIII, the health office of Tarakan port, and public health service posts, he informed. One thousand doses of the Sinovac vaccine were made available for the vaccination drive, he added.
