Bangkok: The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has voted to approve the auction results for the 850 MHz, 1500 MHz, 2100 MHz, and 2300 MHz frequency bands. This auction, which took place on June 29, 2025, garnered a total value of 41 billion baht. The commission’s decision came through a majority vote of 5:1:1, with one abstention and one dissenting vote. The payment terms require a 50% payment to be made at least 7 days before the frequencies can be utilized, starting on August 4, 2025.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Keerati Aphapant, Senior Expert Economist and Acting Deputy Secretary-General of the NBTC, provided details on the auction process. The auction was held under the guidelines established by the NBTC for allocating frequencies for international mobile telecommunications services. The auction did not attract any bids for the 850 MHz band. However, Advanced Wireless Network Company Limited succeeded in securing three sets of frequencies in the 2100 MHz band, with bidding closing at 14,850,000,010 baht.
True Move H Universal Communication Company Limited emerged as the winner for the 2300 MHz band, securing seven sets of frequencies with a final price of 21,770,000,168 baht. Additionally, True Move H Universal Communication Co., Ltd. won the auction for four sets of frequencies in the 1500 MHz band, with a final bid of 4,653,960,168 baht. The total auction amount reached 41,273,960,346 baht, which excludes VAT.
The NBTC will now proceed to notify the auction winners to fulfill the payment requirement, ensuring that at least 50% of the highest auction price is paid no later than seven days before the spectrum becomes operational on August 4, 2025.
