Bangkok: The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has granted essential approvals for telecom service providers to continue utilizing specific frequency ranges for their operations. The decision came during the 22nd NBTC meeting for 2025, which commenced at 9:30 a.m.

According to Thai News Agency, the meeting, led by Mr. Trirat Viriyasirikul, Deputy Secretary-General and Acting Secretary-General of the NBTC, addressed 61 agenda items, with ten receiving approval. Notably, Agenda Item 6.3 focused on licensing applications for international mobile telecommunications services by True Move H Universal Communication Co., Ltd. and Advanced Wireless Network Co., Ltd.

True Move H Universal Communication Co., Ltd. has been issued licenses to operate within the 1452-1472 MHz and 2300-2370 MHz frequency ranges. Meanwhile, Advanced Wireless Network Co., Ltd. received approval to use the spectrum in the 1968-1980 MHz and 2155-2170 MHz frequency ranges. These licenses will be valid for 15 years, from August 4, 2025, to August 3, 2040. Both companies are also authorized to expand services under Type 3 telecommunications business licenses, aligning with the NBTC's strategy to optimize resource management for national benefit.

Agenda Item 6.4 addressed the National Telecom Public Company Limited's (NTC) request to modify its service offerings. The NBTC approved the renewal of NTC's license under the Type Three Telecommunications Business License, alongside the addition of satellite internet services and the termination of 32 telecommunications services, including EDI services and satellite communications for ship tracking. The NBTC mandated a user compensation plan as part of the renewal process.

The NBTC underscored that all licensing decisions are driven by public interest, aiming to ensure continued access to telecommunications services and efficient spectrum use. The commission's resolutions are designed to promote fair competition, prevent monopolies, and foster advancements in digital infrastructure, crucial for the country's economic and technological growth.
