Bangkok: Opening the framework of the power and duties of the NCPO, emphasizing the proposal to solve the Thai-Cambodian border issue to the National Security Council and the Prime Minister until the situation returns to normal.

According to Thai News Agency, in today’s Cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister ordered the establishment of a special center for managing the situation on the Thai-Cambodian border, abbreviated as ‘CCB’. The CCB has the authority and duty to closely monitor, inspect, analyze, filter, and assess the situation on the Thai-Cambodian border. It will provide opinions and recommendations on necessary measures for the benefit of managing the situation on the border to the National Security Council, the Prime Minister, or the Cabinet, as appropriate, to proceed according to their duties and powers.

The framework includes integrating the operations of all agencies involved in the Thai-Cambodian border situation to ensure a unified approach and serve as a center for disseminating correct and unified information to the public. It also involves appointing subcommittees, working groups, or assigning relevant officials to support the performance of duties as necessary and appropriate.

The CCB is tasked with reporting the results of operations and border situation management to the National Security Council, the Prime Minister, or the Cabinet, as appropriate, for their acknowledgment on a regular basis. Additionally, it will perform any other actions as assigned by the Prime Minister or the Cabinet.

The exercise of duties and powers shall aim to resolve tensions and conflicts along the border, returning them to normal, with mutual respect for the independence, sovereignty, equality, territorial integrity, and identity of both countries, without interference from third countries or any international organizations. When the situation returns to normal, the center director will report to the Prime Minister for acknowledgment and order the cancellation of this order.
