Bangkok: Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra has reiterated the government’s readiness to evacuate Thai citizens from Tehran following a directive from the Royal Thai Embassy. The embassy had earlier issued a statement urging Thais to leave the Iranian capital amid escalating tensions.
According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister addressed the situation at 4:45 p.m., noting that she had not yet been formally notified but assured that preparations for evacuation had been underway since the morning. She expressed confidence that the evacuation should have already commenced.
When questioned about Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s remarks concerning the Interior Ministry’s potential alignment with the opposition if it fails to join the Bhumjaithai Party, the Prime Minister declined to comment and promptly exited the discussion.
