New York: The high-level international conference held in New York City, jointly chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, concluded with the issuance of the New York Declaration, which outlined concrete, time-bound measures to resolve the Palestinian issue and implement the two-state solution.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the declaration emphasized the urgent need for collective action to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza, advocating for Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and its transfer to the Palestinian Authority under the principle of “one government, one law, one weapon.” The declaration stressed that only a political solution can bring peace and security, urging the international community to mobilize political and financial support to strengthen the institutional capacities of the Palestinian Authority.
The conference, which included participation from countries such as Brazil, Canada, Egypt, and several others, underscored the importance of adhering to international law. It called for the removal of movement restrictions, the immediate release of withheld Palestinian tax revenues, and the establishment of a new framework for financial relations that would enable Palestine to fully integrate into the international monetary system.
The declaration also highlighted the significance of preserving the legal and historical status quo at religious sites in Jerusalem and urged measures against violent settlers and supporters of illegal settlements. It reaffirmed that ending the occupation and establishing a sovereign Palestinian state are essential for peace and regional integration.
The declaration included commitments to support humanitarian aid delivery in Gaza, reconstruction efforts, and the establishment of a transitional administrative committee in Gaza under the Palestinian Authority. It called for international support to enhance Palestinian governance and security, including a temporary international stabilization mission under the United Nations.
The conference concluded with a call for renewed negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians, with international support and supervision, to achieve a lasting peace and stability in the region. The declaration outlined a roadmap for regional security and cooperation, drawing on international experiences to promote stability and integration.
