Nghe An Province of Vietnam Seeks Investment from US at Washington Forum

Washington: The central Vietnamese province of Nghe An made a compelling case for American investment at a forum in Washington D.C. on November 9. The event was aimed at showcasing the investment environment of Nghe An and highlighting areas where investment is most sought. The Vietnamese Ambassador to the US, Nguyen Quoc Dung, commended Nghe An for choosing the United States to seek investment following recent high-level bilateral visits.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Ambassador Dung pledged that the Vietnamese Embassy would continue to work closely with Nghe An to attract more US investors. Cindy Shao, President of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce (AACC), noted the forum as an excellent opportunity to enhance cooperation between US partners and Vietnam, especially with Nghe An. The AACC, a non-profit organization with nearly 3,000 member businesses, has shown strong interest in establishing ties with Vietnamese entities.

Nguyen Duc Trung, Chairman of the Nghe An People’s Committee, provided an overview of the province’s potential and strengths. He emphasized that Nghe An has created optimal conditions in terms of planning, infrastructure, land, human resources, and administrative procedure support to welcome investors. The focus of investment solicitation is the Dong Nam (Southeast) Economic Zone, comprising five industrial parks spanning 2,000 hectares. Nghe An is particularly keen on attracting investment in sectors such as semiconductors, manufacturing, new material production, and new energy.

Le Tien Tri, Director of the Dong Nam Economic Zone Management Board, expressed the province’s eagerness to build connections with US partners in high technology and the production of consumer goods, petrochemicals, and energy. John Lin, Chairman of the AACC Board of Directors, observed that Vietnam holds several advantages in attracting foreign investment, including in technology and human resources. He expressed hope to organize an AACC delegation visit to Vietnam and Nghe An in the near future.

The forum concluded with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Management Board of the Dong Nam Economic Zone and the AACC. Prior to the forum, the Nghe An delegation also held meetings with leaders of the US Semiconductor Industry Association and the US-ASEAN Business Council, furthering their outreach to potential American investors.
