No new COVID-19 cluster reported during WSBK, IATC: Health Service

The Health Service in Central Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), confirmed no new clusters of COVID-19 during the Asian Talent Cup (IATC) and World Superbike (WSBK) events held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit.

“Until now, we have not received any reports regarding the WSBK participants, who were reactive or tested positive for COVID-19,” Acting Head of the Central Lombok District Health Service, Dr Muzakir Langkir, stated here on Tuesday.

Langkir noted that the health protocols applied at the WSBK event were quite strict. All spectators were required to undergo antigen swab and PCR tests.

In addition, all spectators were necessitated to implement health protocols, such as wearing masks.

“Before entering the venue, spectators, riders, and all crews were all tested,” he noted.

Although the event drew a large crowd, no clusters of COVID-19 were reported at the event. Langkir affirmed that strict health protocols were implemented during all activities at the WSBK and IATC.

“All spectators should have received the full dose of vaccination before entering the venue,” he added.

Langkir believed that the event organizers had made optimal preparations for the event to avoid the transmission of COVID-19 during the event.

“All locations have been sterilized before the race begins,” he stated.

Earlier, the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) had issued regulations for spectators that included terms and conditions as well as Do’s and Don’ts for spectators during the racing event.

The requirements entail having a ticket, being 12 years of age and over, being fully vaccinated, and bringing a result of negative test of rapid antigen (1×24) or RT-PCR test within 2×24 hours on the PeduliLindungi Application.

The Do’s and Don’ts regulations include the obligation to sit in the Grand Stand area according to the ticket category purchased and avoid bringing prohibited items to the venue.
